Choosing cell phones is not quite as important as choosing your spouse, but you may end up having to keep it a lot longer. A typical cell phone comes packages with a contract that averages about two years long. You will be using this toy for a long time. Make sure that it is of good quality and you are comfortable with the features before making your final decision.

One of the most major decisions when selecting your phone, aside from the carrier, is whether you choose a smart phone or a basic phone. A smart phone will be loaded with an almost endless stream of applications and options, but you will pay each month in the form of the plan you choose. A basic phone, on the other hand, will have far fewer options available, but you will pay much less from month to month. Everyone has a budget within which they work. Make sure that you keep yours in mind.

Obviously, the great demand for the smart phone is due to the sleeker, more exciting features. This type of cellular does so much more than just making phone calls and texting. The smart phone user not only can access the Internet on a regular basis, but also download games and other applications as well as send and receive emails and create, edit and send documents.

The physical appearance of models vary across the board. Most smart phones have touch tone screens these days. There are also some flip phones still on the market. Usually these are basic models.

Another feature to consider is whether or not there is a qwerty keyboard. This is a keyboard that mimics an actual keyboard screen. Decide how important this is to you and your phone usage experience. Some people like them, some can't live without them. Other people don't like them at all.

Compare review, whether they are on the Internet or in magazines. Make sure that they are recent and dependable. Also, you may want to canvas your friends and family for their personal experiences. Opinions from actual users can mean much more than a review from someone you do not know or have never met.

When you are selecting cell phones it may be the biggest decision you make all year long. It is probable that you will not choose another phone for a year or more. Be sure that you know what is important to you and that you do not make a hasty decision.
