Most of the older generation doesn't like to use a cell phone. You'll find that there are some that will use cell phones but a lot of the senior population simply isn't as open to the new advancements in technology. Keeping that in mind though there are so many benefits to a senior having a cell phone, especially those that are still active and the land line isn't going to help them when they're out and an emergency happens.

Most cell phone companies, including yours, are going to offer you multiple options to choose from. With the cell phones constantly changing and evolving and with everything not centralized to a senior market it's not totally cut and dry on which phone exactly is going to be the best for the senior citizen. Keeping that in your mind when you're purchasing the cell phone there are some features that you should be looking for with just about any senior.

The most ideal cell phone will have a keypad in which the numbers are easy to ready. The phones that offer this large dialing display are going to be among the best. Also you need to make sure the phone offers volume options for turning it up louder or having a good speakerphone. If the senior you're purchasing for has hearing aids you need to make sure the phone is compatible with them.

When keeping the features in mind you want to make sure that you're getting something that is easy for them to use instead of the cell phones that are so popular today that give all of the features and applications. Most seniors aren't going to want to go near a smart phone. For the most part the senior that acquiesces or wants a cell phone just wants it to be able to place a call in an emergency no matter where they might be. The phone needs to be one that's easy to make calls. This means that all of the buttons need to be straightforward and simple for dialing, sending and ending calls. The more advanced phones simply aren't the style or the desire of the senior.

But when you get down to the core of the matter, almost any senior can appreciate a cell phone which is simple to use and have around in case of an emergency. Finding the cell phone that is the most straightforward is going to help them ease through the process of a new technology and help to overcome most if not all of their objections. This is going to be an easy phone for just sending, ending and making a phone call. Avoid anything that is more advanced.

For the senior that purely doesn't or won't use anything for anything else other than emergency a 911 only cell phone would be a good fit. Any cell phone could fit the mold here. You could preset the speed dial for 911 so they can quickly access it if something happens. Due to national law every cell phone in the United States, even if it currently doesn't have a service plan, must be able to dial 911. There are some phones that are 911 only but will also allow for pay as you go phone calls if someone else needs to be called in an emergency. This is an expensive option so if they're going to be using it on any consistent basis it might be better to think about adding them to your existing plan as an add-on phone. When it comes down to it you're the one that knows the senior you're purchasing for more than anyone else so keep that in mind and you're sure to get the best possible cell phone. Finding a cell phone that is simple to use, features that are needed without going overboard with those that they don't will help to get even the senior that is completely against having a cell phone to appreciate the love and care you put into the thought of getting one for them. You'll also rest easier knowing that they have an outlet if they need it.
